Entire genus in danger
Cylindrocline are a genus of flowering plant in the sunflower family. The genus contains two species, both endemic to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
Together with C. lorencei (also planted in the Temperate House) these two species are critically endangered.
Seeds from Kew’s plants have been stored in the Millennium Seed Bank and shared with botanic gardens worldwide. In situ and ex situ conservation of this species is currently in progress at the National Park Conservation Service and at the Forestry Service in Mauritius.
